XII Forum Europe-Ukraine “New opportunities, old threats” was held in the Polish city of Rzeszow on February 4-5. The students of specialty “Management” and “Public Administration” supervised by PhD student of the department, Niesheva Anastasiia, took place in the Forum invited by the Institution of Eastern Research and Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
Bogdan Verzhbinsky, the deputy dean of Social Science Collage of Rzeszów University, and Zygmunt Berdychowski, the head of the Program Council of Economic Forum in Krynytska were the guests of honour and had a discussion with our students. There were panel discussions, debates, and workshops during the Forum. As previous years, the Forum became a place for the meeting of politicians, the representatives of public authorities, leaders of the entrepreneurships, experts and journalists from Ukraine and the EU countries. The information of the Forum Europe-Ukraine was concentrated mostly on key aspects of modification and development of economy of Ukraine, local authorities development, efficiency of natural resources use, regions potential and new opportunities to cooperate.
“What was the most interesting? – Speakers, topics, events!” that’s short answer of our students. Indeed, the topics are wide and actual. “Shaping the future”, for instance, is a big panel on the cooperation between youth in Europe, interstate and global projects. A lot of discussions were concentrated on how to strengthen the international activities between Ukraine and other countries.

The long-awaited event took place on 5h of February 2020 in Congress-Center of Sumy State University. The presentation of the book edited by Professor Medani P. Bhandari and Associate Professor Shvindina Hanna was held for the academic scholars in public for community that was presented by journalists, active youth and NGOs. During the meeting Professor Medani Bhandari communicated online and shared his vision of the project and how the idea was born, and why that book is dedicated to Daryna Boronos, and what is the plan for the next one. The endless energy of the professor Bhandari brought the discussion to a new level, with vivid ideas exchange, and inspiration for the next book on Inequality. The second editor, Hanna Shvindina, told about the main requests for authors and challenges they may face in a process of chapters writing and reviewing process. Professor Boronos, the head of the department of finance and entrepreneurship, thanked Professor Bhandari for the book as a team member and as inspiring scholar and urged to continue further cooperation.

This February the Active Citizens Camp has started that is supported by British Council in Ukraine within the project House of Europe. The NGO “Active Citizens City” hosts the young leaders and changemakers form all the Ukraine. This event involves youth from all the regions of Ukraine. During two days the representatives of Sumy city has shared their stories in a sphere of project of social actions and facilitation of the projects. The head of the department, Hanna Shvindina was a one of the speakers in a format of “Alive Book”. She shared her experience and the contributions of the British Council in her professional growth as a project manager.
It’s worth of mentioning that the achievements of Hanna Shvindina are:
- The project funded by British Council in Ukraine Speaker Fest" (15 000 UAH)
- The project funded by Oblast Government Office “I am young, I dream, I work” (70 000 UAH) that won TOP-5 best youth practice in region.
- The project funded within participatory budget Festival “Sumy of the Future” (198 030 UAH) that won the TOP-5 best projects in Ukraine
- This year the project “Change Leaders” has already won the funding, and the manager of the project is Valenkevich L.
