On Friday, May 6, 2022, Dr. Tetyana Mayboroda, senior lecturer of the Oleg Balatskyi Department of Management, deputy director of BiEM Institute attended as the key speaker the 2022 International Studies Days, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the U.S. She took part in the conference upon the invitation by Sorin Nastasia, professor at the Department of Applied Communication Studies and Director International Studies Program of the American University.
Dr. Tetyana presented a topic “Continuing Academic Practices Virtually during the Challenging Times of the Ukraine War” where she addressed the questions of the University’s activity and e-learning technologies used in study process before the war, the situation in Sumy city and the University when the war started and the current situation after SumDU resumed educational process in online\asynchronous mode. A series of practice-oriented seminars on the use of EViews software for the analysis of econometric data of time series started on February 22 at the Oleg Balatsky Department of Management. Classes are taught by Visiting Professor Ezie Obumneke of Bingham University (Nigeria) in the framework of Virtual Academic Mobility Program. The seminars are held as part of the study of the discipline "Economic Forecasting" for third-year students of the educational program "Management" (instructor - Associate Professor Denys Smolennikov). The first two seminars focused on statistical data analysis and regression analysis using EViews 12.
Ezie Obumneke is a well-known expert in statistical analysis, teaches a few econometric disciplines at Bingham University, has his own YouTube channel with useful teaching materials "Obezip Academy".
Sumy State University and Bingham University have many years of experience in cooperation, including in the implementation of joint programs of academic mobility for students and academic staff. The program coordinator is Tetyana Mayboroda, Senior Lecturer of the Oleg Balatsky Department of Management, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Director of the BiEM Institute for coordination of collaboration with foreign institutions and for work with international students.
On February 15, the presentation of the resource center «Platform of Public Participation», which was created by the NGO «Sumy Public Circle», took place in the Congress Center of Sumy State University.
The event brought together almost 100 participants - experts from local governments and experts from NGOs from Sumy, Chernivtsi, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Cherkasy and Kyiv regions.
Nina Chernyavska, Head of the Sumy Public Circle NGO, highlighted the importance of the participation of scientists in the development of affluent communities. She thanked the project team and partners who had joined the information and methodological content of the resource site.
The event was attended by specialists of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Business, Economics and Management. During the discussion it was noted that the resource center should become a tool to intensify the provision of educational and scientific-consulting services to the territorial communities of Sumy region on regional socio-economic development. Asa result, such activities are one of the priorities and are provided by the «Strategic Development Plan of Sumy State University for 2020 – 2026».

On February 20, a graduate of our department, Deputy Head of the Novgorod-Siversky City United Territorial Community, Verchenko Pavel, gave a lecture for students studying the course "European Integration, International Public Administration and Security".
The event was attended by masters in the educational and professional program Public Service (lecturer - PhD in Public administration, senior lect. of the Department, Oleksii Demikhov) and bachelors in the academic and professional program Public Management and Administration (lecturer - PhD in Economics, assoc. prof., Iuliia Myroshnychenko). The lecture's topic is devoted to Ukrainian communities' participation in projects related to European integration. The invited speaker told the audience in detail about the involvement of the Novgorod-Siversky community in projects that stimulate the European integration development of our country.
In particular, the community is actively cooperating in implementing the USAID DOBRE program in the direction of decentralization, sustainable development, gender equality, landscaping, solid waste management, support for local entrepreneurship and tourism.
