On June 14, 2018, the 2nd stage of the All-Ukrainian competition “The Best Civil Servant” was held on the basis of Interregional National Agency of Ukraine on Public Service in Kharkiv and Sumy regions. The competition was held by two categories –“The Best Leader” and “The Best Specialist". Civil servants of the regional and district state administrations attended the competition.
The organizational committee and the jury included Starchenko L.V., the Director of the Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education and Telizhenko O.M., Head of the Department of Management.

At the end of April, teachers from the Department of Management, Alona Yevdokymova and Iuliia Myroshnychenko, took part in the IV European Congress of Local Governments (Krakow, Poland), a meeting platform for local and regional self-government, academics, representatives of NGOs and business. The European Congress was organized by the Institute for Eastern Studies, which brought together nearly 2000 participants from Central and Eastern Europe. In general, during the Congress, more than 60 panel and plenary discussions, seminars, debates and presentations of thematic blocks on finance, society, innovation, economics, environment and startups were held. International experts and local leaders discussed the urgent problems of local communities development, issues of support of small and medium-sized enterprises by local authorities, the impact of tourism and culture on regional development, and so on.

On 26th and 27th of April the 1st International Forum "STABICON-2018" took place in the Sumy State University, which united the conferences of two departments o f the Institute of FEM and created a platform for discussions of current scientific problems.
The first day of the Forum was opened by welcoming speech of vice-rector for R&D Dr. Chornous Anatoly. The head of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration Dr. Melnyk Leonid once founded the “Economy for Ecology” conference, which existed for many years. At one time the head of the department of management Dr. Telizhenko Olexander organized the conference "Modern management and economic development". Now, the efforts of both deaprtments are united in the "STABICON-systems" Forum, whose purpose is to create new opportunities for researchers from different fields of studies to share experiences, knowledge and ideas, contacts and to form new research partnerships.

The second year of lecturing under the project "Smart energy cooperation in Europe: educational project for youth leaders" (101048079 - EU4SmartED - ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH) has ended.
Svitlana Kolosok taught the courses "European Integration and Energy Cooperation" and "EU Project Management" to students of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies of Sumy State University. Ihor Vakulenko taught the "Smart Energy: Dimensions of Information Technology" course.
