On February 13, the team from the Oleg Balatskyi Department of Management, Sumy State University, once again participated in an international virtual global class within the framework of the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) program. This time, the event was part of the "International Business and Global Leadership" course, led by Professor Dipra Jha from Washington State University’s Carson College of Business.
Associate Professor Teyiana Mayboroda and Assistant Anastasiia Niesheva delivered a presentation on the topic "russian-Ukrainian case: storytelling, impact on global relations, and conflict management." The topic sparked an engaging discussion among international students representing the USA, Georgia, Kosovo, and Ukraine.
For Ukrainian educators and students, understanding the causes and consequences of war is not only an academic pursuit but also a harsh reality. Analyzing the Ukrainian-russian case in an intercultural environment helps to deepen knowledge of international conflict management mechanisms, diplomacy, and negotiation processes. The presentation explored the impact of the war in Ukraine on global relations and the complexities of achieving a swift and "peaceful" resolution through the lens of negotiation theories and conflict management practices.
"I sincerely thank the students and colleagues of the virtual class for their attention, insightful questions, and most importantly—for their support," shared Tetyana Mayboroda. The discussions not only enhanced the understanding of the Ukrainian situation but also fostered new academic and cultural connections within the international academic community.
Concluding the session, Tetyana Mayboroda expressed her heartfelt hope:
"May our next presentation in the COIL class take place in a time of peace, on our native Ukrainian soil."
