New Courses in European Energy Studies Introduced for Youth Leaders

During the week of May 9–13, the team of the Jean Monnet Module “Smart energy cooperation in Europe: educational project for youth leaders” (EU4SmartED) held a series of meetings with students of Sumy State University to present three newly developed academic courses.

A total of 103 students participated in the events, representing study programs in management, marketing, information technology, and economics. Nearly 60% of the participants were female, reflecting a growing interest among women in energy-related topics and European studies.

During the sessions, the following three courses were introduced:

  • “European integration and cooperation in energetics” – participants explored the relevance of the EU’s energy transition and the importance of understanding European energy policy for future professionals.
  • “EU Project Management” – this course attracted the greatest interest, engaging 39 active participants in a lively discussion about opportunities for accessing European funding and the specifics of project management according to EU standards.
  • “EU Smart Energy: Information technologies dimension” – students learned about the role of IT in the development of smart energy grids and the importance of digital competencies for the energy sector.

Each presentation was accompanied by active discussions on Ukraine’s European integration prospects in the energy sector and career development opportunities for youth in this field.
