Roundtable “The EU-Ukraine integration under lateral energy program: results and future directions” Brought Together Authorities, Academics, and Youth

As part of the Jean Monnet Module “Smart energy cooperation in Europe: educational project for youth leaders” and the annual scientific conference “Modern Management and Economic Development”, a roundtable discussion titled “The EU-Ukraine integration under lateral energy program: results and future directions” was held was held on May 22, 2024

The event brought together over 40 participants, including representatives of local authorities (Sumy Regional Military Administration, Sumy City Council, Shostka City Council, and Khmeliv Village Council), scholars from several Ukrainian higher education institutions (National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Kyiv National Linguistic University, Zhytomyr Economic and Humanitarian Institute of the University “Ukraine”, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Sumy National Agrarian University), as well as faculty members and students of Sumy State University.

Participants discussed Ukraine’s key achievements in energy integration with the European Union, the pressing challenges in national and regional energy security, and the prospects for future cooperation. In particular, the roundtable emphasized the importance of establishing effective collaboration between the academic community and local self-government bodies, as well as the development of joint approaches to implementing innovative energy solutions at the local level.

Special attention was given to youth engagement in the context of European initiatives and projects aimed at the sustainable development of the energy sector.

The roundtable became a valuable platform for exchanging experiences, generating new ideas, and fostering interinstitutional cooperation in the field of energy policy and education.
