Alena Yevdokimova, Associate Professor of the Department of Management named after O. Balatsky, and Olena Bondarenko, Lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Philology of Sumy State University, became participants in the international project “Be the Change You Want to See”, which took place in Slovenia from March 15 to 20, 2025 as part of the Erasmus+ program. Participation in the project was made possible thanks to cooperation between Sumy State University (coordinator Oksana Zamora) and the ZOJA Association.
The event was organized in the city of Murska Sobota, where participants from different countries discussed topical issues of environmental protection both at the local and global levels. Special attention during the discussions was paid to the environmental challenges that Ukraine faces as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war, in particular, environmental pollution, the destruction of natural ecosystems, and the need to restore affected territories.
The program included a series of workshops, during which participants learned methods of environmental conservation and considered ways in which young people and youth workers can set an example in implementing environmental initiatives.
Participation in this project will contribute to the involvement of young people in environmental education and the formation of a responsible attitude towards resources, which is an important step in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Thanks to such international initiatives, teachers can integrate new knowledge and approaches into the educational process, which will contribute to the preparation of responsible and environmentally conscious citizens.
