When we agreed on the date of the online class with a certified mediator, practitioner, co-author and lecturer of the course on the platform Prometheus "Dialogue and Mediation: The Road to Reconciliation", managing partner of the law company ZAKON PEREMOHY Marina Saenko, we did not expect it to happen in the epicenter of the Mediation Month in Ukraine!
Thus, on November 19th took place an inspiring, meaningful, interesting webinar on mediation and conflict management for 3rd and 4th year students of Management degree program (lecturer Tatyana Mayboroda in the discipline "Conflict and Organizational Change Management ") and 4th year students of International Economic Relations degree program (lecturer Nadiya Kostyuchenko).
The topics presented and discussed:
- the current state of mediation in Ukraine,
- practical aspects of its application, features and readiness of the society for such an alternative way of conflicts resolution,
- approach to conflicts resolution taking into account the interests of the other party and willingness to cooperate,
- how to use the principles and "philosophy" of mediation in everyday life and professional life,
- who can become a mediator and what is necessary for this,
- Harvard model of negotiations,
- change of "worldview" about ourselves, our behavior and our attitude in the conflict and respect for the other party.
"It is important not to look for those who are right or who are guilty, not to evaluate the arguments of each party, but to focus on the future, understanding that the point of view depends on the angle from which each party looks at the problem" - one of the quotes from Mrs. Marina, which students will definitely remember and will implement in future. After all, only with such an approach we can continue to build a society in which we will respect and value each other, and in conflict situations will seek for cooperation and for understanding our own interest and the interest of the other party.
