One of the best practices introduced at Sumy State University at our institute together with American universities - first the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and then the Washington State University - is COIL, Collaborative Online Learning, or Global Virtual Classes.

Washington State University Carson College of Business Dividend magazine has featured the globally networked learning collaboration for the International Relations & Global Leadership class in its latest issue. 

We would like to remind our readers that this project was initiated by Professor Dipra Jha (Washington State University) and Professor Hanna Shvindina (Sumy State University), and since this year, the co-coordinator of COIL is Tetyana Mayboroda, Ph.D. This project involved several cohorts of students majoring in Management, International Economic Relations, and other economic fields, and more and more educators are joining the virtual exchange.

On October 22, 2021, 1st and 2nd year students of the specialty "Project Management" had an excellent opportunity to talk about participatory projects with the secretary of the Coordinating Council for the State Budget of SСTС Andrey Mosha.

During the meeting, we discussed in detail the procedure for selecting and evaluating project applications, the formation of project budgets, the interaction of project participants at all stages of the project, and much more.

The meeting with the practitioner took place within the framework of the study of the disciplines "Planning of project actions" (teacher Alona Yevdokymova) and "Communication management in projects" (teacher Karina Taranyuk).

On October 18, third-year students majoring in Management as part of the study of the discipline "Investment Management" (group ЕН-93) on "Research and Investment Planning" (teacher - Iuliia Myroshnychenko) attended a webinar on the series "Laws of Effective Business". The event's speaker is Kyrylo Kunitsky, the founder of the international educational and consulting company Business Designer. The webinar discussed the practical aspects of building effective financial management in the company. In particular, the speaker explained how to balance revenue generation and maintenance of the operating process, build a management system for the company, and scale it with investment. The event organiser paid special attention to the analysis of modern business tools to establish the main functions of management and control its effectiveness. The competencies gained at the online event will help students to effectively manage their business and organize profitable investment activities in the future.

On October 18, a lecture for masters of Administrative Management, within the discipline "State Control", was held by the head of the State Inspectorate for Architecture and Urban Planning in the Sumy region Malonkina Inna Sergeevna. The speaker spoke about the functions of the newly established institution in the field of construction control and supervision. She also shared with students her own experience of participating in the competition for the position of civil servant. It is nice that Ms. Inna is a graduate of the Department of Management! Thank you for an interesting discussion! We are proud of our graduates and wish them further career growth and self-realization!

On October 12, Mishenina Halyna, a lecturer at the Oleg Balatsky Department of Management, attended a webinar entitled “Strategic Approach to Public Procurement and Their Social Aspects” with fourth-year students majoring in Public Management and Administration within the discipline “Monitoring and Evaluation of Management Activity”.

The online event was organized by the Ukrainian Social Academy as part of a series of webinars "Development of Sustainable Partnership". The main task of the webinar was to find out the answer to the question: How and why can the state make public procurement socially responsible?

Regita Zejla, Director of the Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association, spoke about the need and features of socially responsible public procurement and demonstrated examples of European experience in implementing social responsibility in public procurement. She also shared her professional experience in the field of social influence and its formation at the regional, national and international levels. We continue to use the flexible capabilities of distance learning to attract our students to top online events.

On October 21, a practice-oriented event, a lecture on “Different types of CRM-systems and their impact on management decisions, planning and control” was held at Oleg Balatskyi Department of Management. The class was conducted by Dmytro Yuriyovych Taruta, Head of the Sales Department of the leading logistics services company in Ukraine.

The event was held for 2nd year students majoring in 281 “Public Management and Administration” (educational program “Public Management and Administration”) and 073 “Management” (educational program “Management”) within the discipline “Methods of Management Decision Making” (lecturer Bondar T.V.).

Project Coordinator of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Ukraine and graduate of the specialty “Management” Elena Davlikanova and the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Business, Economics and Management of Sume State University Tetyana Vasylieva presented the results of the study of the structure of the labor market in the field of agriculture at the round table “Ukraine 4.0. Foresight study of socio-economic changes in the labor market and forecasting of professional qualifications with digital skills». The round table took place on October 7 in the Congress Center of Sumy State University.

Issues of agricultural development of the economy, including digitalization, aspects of Industry 4.0 and workplace automation, changes in the needs of employers in qualified personnel and labor market forecasting in Ukraine were discussed during the round table. Representatives of the authorities, agricultural enterprises of Sumy region, public organizations, postgraduate students, scientists took part in the round table.

On October 18-20, 2021, a Microsoft Student Summit was held, which was attended by Svitlana Kolosok together with students of the УП.м-11 group as part of practice-oriented classes on the courses "Project Management" and "Information Systems in Project Management" under the educational program "Project Management."

On each day of the summit, Microsoft practitioners shared their experience with tech tools and provided career and employment advice. Also, at the student summit, it was possible to consolidate skills, obtain materials for certification on Microsoft security, compliance, and identity, and prepare to ace the Azure Data and Power Platform exams.

Teachers of our department Yuliia Opanasiuk and Tetyana Mayboroda took part in the First Evening Festival of Non-Formal Education "The Art of Learning Together" as trainers. The festival took place as part of the German Weeks in Ukraine on the occasion of 30 years of German-Ukrainian relations.

The festival consisted of 36 exciting trainings from the best coaches from all over Ukraine. And our teachers have something to share! Tetyana Mayboroda conducted the training "Intercultural Communications and Leadership", and Julia Opanasyuk - "How to shoot on a smartphone beautifully."

Participants were active, interested and gave valuable feedback.
