On his birthday, Arkady Yurievich told us about his life, plans and ideas.

Tell us how you came to science?

A very important person, Oleh Fedorovich Balatsky, appeared in my life. He was selecting a team. I studied in the technical specialty "Machines and apparatus of chemical production", but in the 2nd year Oleg Fedorovich Balatsky noticed that I play volleyball well and invited me to the sports team, and then to the scientific one.

These were very interesting and useful times! Then I realized that I like economics more than technical specialties. Although I was invited to study for a postgraduate degree at the department I graduated from. But I have been working with Oleg Fedorovich for 3 years and these years have completely changed my direction. It should be noted that the topic on which we conducted research was at the intersection of two areas: ecology and economics and was called: "Economics of Natural Resources and Environment." It is on this topic that the functioning of the Faculty of Economics, and now the Institute of Finance, Economics and Management, began.

The slogan of Oleg Balatskyi Department of Management is "Learn from the best!". And when you study with interest and innovations, your motivation grows. Our teachers are continually improving the learning process to make it challenging, convenient, and informative for students. The best ideas and their authors are awarded within the competition "Pedagogical Innovations of Sumy State University".

This year 83 participants took part in the competition "Pedagogical Innovations of Sumy State University ", two of them were won by our department.

  • Valenkevich L.P, Shvindinа Н.O. and Opanasіuk Yu.A. with the second place for joint Project “Schools of Future Leaders " in the nomination "Career guidance".

On the 15th of January, the Head of Oleg Balatskyi Department of Management, Dr. Shvindina Hanna, performed the annual report. The achievements-2020 of the team were presented. This year was a challenge for all of us as soon as it required extraordinary efforts to manage online learning and digitalization of the processes. Nevertheless, the batting score for the department is high. There are many victories, such as an increase in quantity and quality of the papers indexed in SCOPUS and Web of Science, the increase of the educators’ qualifications, the virtual mobility projects boost, the number of foreign partners was increased, high-profile social projects, and many other events.

The Department of Education and Science of the Sumy Regional State Administration awarded a diploma of an associate professor of Oleg Balatskyi Department of Management Onishchenko Margarita for high professionalism and effective work in preparing students to write research papers of the Sumy Territorial Branch of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In the penultimate week of 2020 at the Oleh Balatskiy’s Department of Management masters of "Public Management and Administration" (educational programs "Administrative Management", "Civil Service," Management and Administration in Health Care "),"Project Management" and "Management” all forms of education defended their master's theses. The works were defended online.

Students considered current topics in their works. Thus, the students of the educational program «Civil Service» considered the policy of reforming Ukrainian universities, the protection of children's rights, the system of granting permits and registration procedures, organizational principles for ensuring access to public information, corruption risks, etc.

The Department of Management congratulates our graduate and employer - Director of the Sumy Regional Center for Emergency Care and Disaster Medicine Alexandrenko Anatoly with receiving an honorary award - the Order of the Knight of the Fatherland III degree !!!

2nd year students of the specialty "Public Management and Administration" within the study of the discipline "Administrative and Territorial Management" successfully completed courses on the platform "Prometheus".

On the topic "Administrative-territorial system" as an independent study, students took the course "Decentralization in Ukraine: theory and practice." The course discussed what decentralization is in Ukraine and why it is necessary, how decentralization took place in European countries, history of reforms of administrative-territorial system and formation of local self-government in Ukraine, cooperation of territorial communities, problems that arise during the reform, etc. Students learned what decentralization is, how the reform is going and what the prospects are for the future.

On December 23 in the specialized scientific council D 55.051.06, there was a successful defense of the dissertation for the degree of candidate of economic sciences in the specialty 08.00.03 - economics and management of the national economy on " Organizational and economic principles of smart grid implementation in the energy sector of Ukraine" by Ihor Vakulenko (scientific supervisor - head of the department of marketing Oleksii Lyulyov).

The dissertation aroused the interest of members of the specialized scientific council, who noted its high scientific level and thorough preparation of the dissertation on the researched issues. They confirmed this conclusion by unanimous vote for the award of the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences.
