Do science today is fashionable, prestigious and honorable?

Scientific activity today is, first of all, a necessary.

There is no sense in talking about the prestige and fashion of science  - thanks to science the world is modernized, renewed and even survives. Let us recite the words of one of the famous French scientists and Nobel Prize winner Frederic Joliot-Curie: “Science is needed by the people. A country that does not develop science becomes a colony."

We want to tell you about our successful graduates.

Tell us about your studies at SSU. Which teacher was remembered for a lifetime?

It was fun at the University -this is the period when you already feel like an adult, but you do not need to be 100% responsible for your actions.

I remember Oleg Fedorovich Balatsky - he is an outstanding person, definitely! His lectures were attended by all who did not attend any classes. He told cases from the real practice of entrepreneurs of the Soviet Union. It was amazing!

I also remembered a marketing teacher who described me as a superficial person, but he noted that this approach also has a right to life. And now I think he really saw my essence as a person. I believe that you need to hire professionals for every case.

One of the topics in “Management” was devoted to emotional intellect. Because of Daniel Goleman’s book, this concept conquered the dominance in management literature and leadership studies. It’s well known that high emotional intelligence is the precondition of the successful negotiations, sales transactions or project pitching. And one of the practical implementations of that soft skills is sales. That’s why the meeting with Mr Artem Knyazev, trainer at LLC Globalbilgi, was dedicated to sales for the beginners and emotions management. Mr Knyazev has an experience in sales since 2014 and now he trains salesmen at his company.

Mr Knyazev shared his experience of successful sales, management and structuring operations in sales, self-control, self-motivation and emotions control. This theme took place within the course “Management” (Lecturer: Dr Shvindina Hanna) for the first-year students of specialities “Entrepreneurship, trade and exchange activities”, “Marketing”, “Banking Business”, “Economic Cybernetics”, “International economic relations”, “Accounting and audit”, “Public and local finances”. Around 70 students of economic specialities took part in the meeting.

Teachers of the department of management develop their skills to ensure the comfort of learning during quarantine. May 21, senior lecturer Opanasyuk Yu.A. and associate professor Mishenina G.A. took part in the webinar "Remote assessment with Microsoft Teams and Forms" from the manager of educational projects of LLC "Navigator systems", Microsoft Innovative Education Trainer Svetlana Hilay.

The webinar is focused distance exam, which is very important at the end of the semester.  Participants have learned how to create a meeting in Microsoft Teams, to ensure academic integrity during exams, identify the student, randomly choose a ticket and set the exam. Another issue was considered in the Microsoft Forms work and the possibility of renting examinations in the form of testing.

On the 15th of May at Civic Engagement Club meeting the discussion about “Where to build a career: in Ukraine or/and abroad?” took place. Vladyslav Shapoval, the student of “International Economic Relations” at SSU, Natalia Serebryakova, movie reviewer and Iryna Tatarenko, editor-in-chief of Panorama journal (Kyiv). Iryna graduated from Sumy State University in Management and changed her major to journalism and now she is a successful editor of the books, journals, and social events. Shvindina Hanna, the CEO of NGO “Lifelong Learning Centre”, the head of the department of management, was the organizer and moderator of the event.

The participants shared their stories of success, their vision on dreaming about impossible things, their ups and downs in a career, and interesting cases. The total number of participants was 25, including the students of the first year of SSU.  

Tetyana Tretyak, a fourth-year student majoring in Management, group M-61, received a 2nd degree diploma for winning the second round of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in the specialty "Management" of the specialization "Environmental Management" in the 2019/2020 academic year with topic "Ecological factor in the development of the scheme of heat supply of settlements".

The project Virtual Class within the course “Strategic Management” (lecturer is Shvindina Hanna, Ph.D., Dr Sci.) came to an end, and now we are having closing remarks. More than 60 participants from five countries (Ukraine, Mauritius, Australia, India, Poland), took part in five webinars during the three months (February – April). Professor Dipra Jha (The University of Nebraska–Lincoln), Dr Iryna Heiets (School of Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Aviation team, RMIT University), Mr. Subheer Ramnoruth (Whitefield Business School) and the educators of Sumy State University, Associate Professor Hanna Shvindina and Associate Professor Denys Smolennikov.

Did you think when you studied that you could organize your own business? Our students can !!!

Introducing our student David Hviniashvili, Project Manager Ukrainian network of restaurants and owner of marketing agency "40000".

He has a different experience from the professional athlete to the public figure. He likes to create, to talk about important things and share the experiences of others.

1. How did the idea to create a marketing agency?

After studying online marketing, I wanted to share my emotions with a "live" person, not a laptop (Smiles).

  I met a friend who works in this field, started a conversation about one of the agencies in Ukraine. And, we decided that we wanted to create our own agency.

Thus began the path of "regular coincidences"

Distance Learning empowers practitioners involved in learning. On May 7, 2020, a webinar was held with the Deputy Head of the Department of Investment and External Partnership of the Department of Finance, Economy and Investments of Sumy City Council by Gavrilova Kateryna Volodymyrivna, a master's student in the Civil Service educational program for second-year students majoring in Public Administration.

The event was held under the subject "Basic of Public Financial Management". The lecture "Attracting additional financial resources to the local budget for the implementation of investment projects" was given as part of the topic "Public Investment Management".

Students were able to get acquainted with the theoretical foundations of attracting  investition to local governments, the types of financial resources for the implementation of investment projects.
